August of Action: We Need Your Help in Advocacy

Home Blog August of Action: We Need Your Help in Advocacy

August is here and that means August of Action is officially in swing. Legislators are officially on break from Washington, D.C. and are spending their recess in their home districts.

Now is the time to reach out to your members of Congress to schedule a meeting during their August break. If your elected officials do not hear about issues, they cannot take action. It’s so important that you build relationships with your Senators and Representatives so that the Breast Cancer Patient Equity Act legislation can move more efficiently through the government.

Essentially Women is here to help you with meetings with your representatives or with advocacy. We can help in any way from scheduling meetings, offering coaching sessions on how to speak with your legislators, and providing you with concise points that will best get your message across.

The Let Her Decide Team recently released a toolkit for sale to help you advocate for the Breast Cancer Patient Equity Act. For just $30, you’ll receive:

  • 60 counter cards
  • 25 infographic flyers
  • 1 11x17 easel back sign
  • 2 selfie signs

Pass the counter cards out to your customers to let them know how they can make their voices heard on what custom breast prosthesis legislation means to them. Hang the infographic in your fitting rooms or use them as a handout at local events. Take pictures with your customers or employees with the selfie signs and post them to social media. These tools are here to help you spread the word of why it is important for Medicare to provide reimbursement for custom breast prosthesis.

As of 8/6/19, the following representatives have signed onto support our legislation. If you don't see your legislator listed, they haven't signed on. Contact them by going to to send them an email or find their phone number to talk to them or their staff members directly.
