All women exposed to high levels of DDT are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer through age 54. However, the timing of the breast cancer risk depends on when they were first exposed to DDT. Women who were exposed to DDT before age 14, specifically in infancy or early childhood, were most likely to develop premenopausal breast cancer. Those who were exposed to DDT after infancy were at risk for developing breast cancer between 50-54 years old.
