(Pre-Conference Session) Mission Possible: Women's Health Reimbursement

In this mission, you will be introduced to the variety of contractors hired by the Medicare program including (and other payers), and identifying the payment categories. The session will go through steps for the complete intake process where the gathering of patient information is vital to proper claim submission and so much more.

(Keynote) Brief Overview on Breast Cancer and Surgical Management and How a Breast Nurse Navigator Helps Ease the Journey

During this session, we will review the history of breast cancer treatment, review surgical options in treatment including oncoplastic resection and reconstructive surgery, discuss the use of sentinel node biopsy, and provide highlights on systemic management, radiation therapy, and the use of genomics.

Using breast cancer patients as examples, this presentation will help you learn how to communicate effectively, hold a boundary of compassion, and ensure that you go home at the end of the day feeling fulfilled instead of exhausted. You will walk away with compassion-based communication tips and an emotional first-aid kit that you can use to improve your own well-being. 

Certification and Accreditation:  What You Need to Know  
Presenters: Jim Lawson, Outreach Development, ABC, and Matt Gruskin, MBA, BOCO, BOCPD, CDME, Chief Operating Officer, BOC

This session will begin as a joint panel of American Board of Certification for Orthotics & Prosthetics (ABC) and Board of Certification (BOC) representatives doing a Q & A session to address all your certified mastectomy fitter questions. From there we will divide the group for each organization to discuss facility accreditation updates on standards, renewal information and resources available.   

Maximizing Resources to Ensure Fair Payer Contracts

In this session, we will dive into some new tools that providers can utilize as they negotiate new or existing contracts with payers to achieve more long-term stability in their contracts.

Presenters: Belinda Yandell, Noridian Healthcare Solutions, and Ruth Reese, CGS Administrators

Belinda and Ruth will discuss Medicare coverage criteria and documentation requirements for external breast prostheses. The National Coverage Determination for the new Non-implanted Pelvic Floor Electrical Stimulator will also be discussed.
